ORGANIZATION: Flamborough Connects

WHAT THEY DO: This year marks the 45th anniversary of Flamborough Information and Community Services — Flamborough Connects (FC). Whether we are supporting older adults with rural transportation, preparing free income tax returns for families or engaging youth through volunteerism and employment, Flamborough Connects brings people and resources together.

FC is an information hub with access to local services and supports through publications, website links, social media connections and trusted community knowledge. FC manages Flamborough Volunteers — the only volunteer centre in greater Hamilton. We not only help connect individuals to opportunities, but we also help support the non-profit organizations that make a huge difference in the life of this community.

FC is an advocate for rural Hamilton and sits on several committees and working groups. We help make sure the unique needs of Flamborough residents — from youth to older adult — are represented and heard.

FC is a member of InformOntario, Ontario Non-Profit Network, Ontario Volunteer Centre Network and Volunteer Canada.

NOTABLE EVENTS: Flamborough Connects facilitates annual events that help engage, educate, employ and recognize. FC proudly hosts the Annual Flamborough Volunteer Appreciation and invites community organizations and volunteers to an evening of entertainment, treats, prizes and awards. A highlight of the event is the presentation of the Senior Volunteer Award. The event is held every June.

WHO CAN JOIN: Flamborough Connects is a registered charity governed by a volunteer board, part-time staff and volunteers. There is no formal membership, and the entire community is invited to inquire about services and opportunities at any time. The community is also invited to attend the annual general meeting in April.
