City of Hamilton 
Urgent Care – Staff and physicians at the UCC provide care for patients from 12 p.m. (noon) to 7 p.m., seven days a week. No appointments are required. Urgent care centers treat all ages: children and adults.

Public Health

City of Hamilton Public Health  – Hamilton Public Health Services offers a range services and supports to address the growing and changing needs of our community. Nurses, doctors, counsellors, and other trained health professionals work with our community partners to promote and protect your health, prevent infectious diseases, and inspect for health hazards.

Street Health Clinics – Services are targeted to those that are street involved and are meant to remove barriers for accessing important health care services. No health card is needed, and any age can attend.

Home Care

Home and Community Care Support Services is the organization responsible to assess individual’s needs for receiving health care in the home.  They determine eligibility and assign providers and can also help individuals and families find other home-health related services in the community through the HNHB Healthline directory.  (Previously known as LHIN for Hamilton Niagara Haldimand and Brant) Call 905-310-2222 or 1-888-470-2222

Distress lines

Eagles Nest of Waterdown – Helping people develop self-worth, cultivate healthy relationships and navigate through trauma.  They offer counselling, coaching, support groups and programs to adults, youth and children. Contact by phone or email: 905 689 8721 or

Sexual Health

Drug Costs

Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) – a program that covers the cost of 4400 medications for people 65 and over, 24 and under, in long-term care, on home care, on disability or social assistance or enrolled in the Trillium Drug Program.

Trillium Drug Program – a program to help with very high prescription drug costs. You should apply if you live in Ontario and have a valid health card number, do not have any other drug coverage through ODB or private insurance and spend approximately 4% of your income on prescriptions. Applications can be mailed or completed online.  Call 1-800-575-5386

OHIP+  – Pharmacare for children and youth up to 24 years of age. Provide Health Card Number when filling prescription.  There is no need to apply for program.  Send questions to

Medical Supplies Subsidy

Assistive Devices Program – a program that generally covers 75% of the cost of specific medical equipment and supplies.  A person must be an Ontario resident with a valid health card requiring equipment for at least 6 months and not eligible for coverage through WSIB or Veterans. Travel Vaccinations at Waterdown Walk-in Clinic at Walmart – annual flu shots in addition to common vaccinations for travel such as hepatitis, typhoid, varicella etc.  Book appointment at 905-690-1418


Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program – a program for low-income Ontario seniors (65 and over) without other dental coverage.  Covers regular check ups and preventive care, fillings, extractions, x-rays, treating gum disease and infections. There is partial coverage for dentures. Call 1-833-207-4435.  Applications require a guarantor and must be mailed.  They can be printed from the website or obtained through Hamilton Public Health at 905-546-3500.

Free or Low-Cost Dental Programs, City of Hamilton – a variety of programs for children, adults and seniors who are low-income residents of the city of Hamilton without other coverage.  Services may include emergency care, screening, preventative care and some dental procedures.  Call 905-546-2489 for information.
