Flamborough Connects » Let’s Take The Bus!
February is National Senior Independence Month!
At Flamborough Connects, we offer services to help seniors stay independent like our Flamborough Shops, Flamborough Drives, Wheel of Fitness, Snow Angels and Education programs.
February’s Education Session is a great opportunity for seniors looking to remain independent and use public transit. Flamborough Connects and the Hamilton Council on Aging are proud to offer “Let’s Take the Bus,” a program developed in partnership with the City of Hamilton Transit Division and Seniors Advisory Committee. This is an opportunity for seniors to learn how to safely and confidently navigate the local transit system, board & exit the bus, identify bus routes, determine fares and use presto passes.

Another amazing organization helping seniors and families in need in Flamborough is Knox Presbyterian Church and their Out of the Cold Meals to Go program. Knox Presbyterian Church in Waterdown has partnered with Hamilton Out of the Cold as a site for hot, nutritious meal distribution for those in need. Knox volunteers prepare individually packaged meals in the church’s commercial kitchen and distribute them on Wednesday afternoons between 4:00 and 5:00. Come to the parking lot door off Church Street in Waterdown.
Shut-ins, seniors and families are welcome! Meals are provided to anyone in need….whatever that need might be….with no questions asked. Contact the Knox Church office at (289) 775-8864 or email brenda.mclean@sympatico.ca for more information.
