Get income tax help with Flamborough Connects

Tax season is gearing up, and Flamborough Connects is preparing to offer the Canada Volunteer Income Tax Program for the 30th year.

We are meeting with our experienced team of volunteers later this month and will be launching the program in early March.

Individuals with an annual income under $35,000 or two-income families with combined income under $45,000 are eligible to receive free tax preparation. If you haven’t done your taxes in a few years, we can do multiple catch-up returns and help ensure you receive the retroactive benefits and refunds you are entitled to. For full eligibility details, visit www.flamboroughconnects.ca/income-tax-program.

There is no age limit. Anyone who fits the eligibility guidelines is welcome to participate.

We strongly encourage youth with part-time jobs and students over 19 to start doing their taxes in order to receive refunds and benefits like the GST/HST Credit, and get in the habit of filing every year.

The process is simple: Make an appointment to drop off your tax documents at the Flamborough Connects office or register over the phone. We pass your information and documents on to one of our experienced CRA-vetted volunteers, and they complete the return and file electronically.

When the process is complete, we give you a call to pick up a copy of your return and any personal documents. It is typically done within a week or two.

We are delighted that BLRCPA — our longtime local accounting firm partner — will be back to offer one evening clinic. Clients who have had their taxes done through BLRCPA’s free clinic in the past are invited to give us a call to find out updated details and how the program will roll out this year.

The Flamborough Connects Volunteer Income Tax Program is a significant contributor to the economic stability of financially vulnerable residents and this community. In 2021, Flamborough Connects volunteers filed over 200 returns and put over $650,000 of cash money into the pockets of residents.

That money is spent in this community on rent, food, clothing and everyday necessities.
