Flamborough Volunteers

Bringing people and resources together for over 40 years.

Established in 2001, Flamborough Volunteers is the local volunteer centre for Waterdown, Carlisle, Freelton, Millborough, Millgrove, Rockton etc.

We help volunteers find their passion to make a difference in community and we help community agencies inspire their volunteers to give back.

FC engages community volunteerism with:

  • Non-profit volunteer recruitment and support, including volunteer opportunity posting
  • Community Connector Series: Volunteer fairs and educational services to help volunteers and organizations succeed.
  • Non-profit Event Promotion
  • Annual Flamborough Volunteer Appreciation
  • Annual Flamborough Senior Volunteer Award

Flamborough Connects is a member of Volunteer Canada, Ontario Volunteer Centre Network and Hamilton Administrators of Volunteers.

Youth Empowerment Team

Name of Non-Profit: Flamborough Connects

Number of Hours: 5-10 hours monthly

Description: Help plan, program and promote youth events in the Flamborough Area (and earn volunteer hours!).

Snow Angels 

Name of Non-Profit: Flamborough Connects

Number of Hours: dependent on snowfall/weather

Description: Volunteer snow removal program for low-income seniors or people with disabilities who live in Waterdown to ensure the safety of residents and their caregivers. Volunteer Snow Angels remove snow from a resident’s sidewalk, windrow and path leading to their main access door within 24-hours of a snowfall.

Eagle’s Nest Association of Waterdown

Positions available: 

  • Rescued & Restored Sales Associate

Interval House of Hamilton

Positions Available:

  • Administrative (includes filing and reception)
  • Donations room management
  • Child minding
  • Peer support and court support volunteers
  • Various mailers and fundraisers

Youth Impact Team

Name of non-profit: Healthy Youth Network

Number of hours: 15 hours over a few months

Description:  Passionate about creating systemic change for gender-based violence? Healthy Youth Network is looking to recruit 5 male-identifying and 5 female-identifying, or non-binary, volunteers to help us facilitate our new Ally Program at Waterdown District High School in Waterdown, ON.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive training on Developmental Relationships through Healthy Youth Network.
  •  Receive training on the ‘EmpowerMENt’ and ‘EmpowHER’ curriculum through Halton Women’s Place.
  • Receive GBA+ training through the Ministry of Women and Gender Equality.
  • Facilitate presentations to grade 9 students based on the ‘EmpowerMENt’ and ‘EmpowHER’ curriculum.
  • Work with a student leadership team from the high school to create two (2) year-end events aimed at raising awareness and building healthy relationships.
  • Receive an honorarium for every presentation and be compensated for mileage.

Wheels of Hope Driver

Name of non-profit: Canadian Cancer Society

Number of hours: as needed

Description: As a Wheels of Hope driver, you will be responsible for
• Responding to requests for client rides from the Transportation Coordinator, ideally via email, and wherever possible being flexible with your schedule as busy days/times/periods change
• Confirm travel arrangements with client(s) by phone
• Offer minimal assistance to get clients in and out of the car (no lifting permitted)
• Put client safety first by following safe driving procedures and keeping your license and insurance details updated
• Adhere to all Canadian Cancer Society policies, procedures, standards and guidelines including client confidentiality, role boundaries and our 100% smoke free policy

General Shelter Volunteer 

Name of Non-Profit: Animal Adoptions of Flamborough

Description: cleaning cages, scooping litter, changing bedding, helping with dishes and laundry, sweeping and mopping floor

Living Rock Ministries, Youth Resource Centre

Number of Hours: 2-8 hours weekly

Description: Living Rock Ministries, Youth Resource Centre exists to be a safe place of community and support for youth-at-risk.

Positions Available: Breakfast program, Dinner program, Food Bank, Prenatal Care, Youth Support Worker, Administration Assistant, Weekend Support, etc.

Alexander Place Long Term Care Home

Number of Hours: 2 hours per week

Description: Alexander Place LTC has several different volunteer opportunities. They are looking for committed and passionate volunteers to join their team to help provide services and socialization to residents!
