Flamborough Connects programs returning to normal

It is such a relief that we are finally getting back to some sense of normal — especially as we head into the holiday season.

Last week, my husband and I went out for dinner at a restaurant with friends we hadn’t seen in two years.

Not everyone is enthusiastic about going out and being shoulder to shoulder with others. Following ongoing COVID-19 safety protocols, and ensuring you feel safe should always be your guide.

Having said that, the Flamborough Seniors Centre is now open Monday to Wednesday with several fitness and drop in programs running. It is wonderful to see the Westover Artists on Tuesday mornings again — and listen to the musical jam sessions on Wednesday afternoons.

All participants must be fully vaccinated and show proof of vaccination and ID when entering the centre. Kim and the team have spaces available in the Tuesday afternoon Learn to Quilt, and Wednesday morning knitting programs.

Pre-registration is required, call 905-546-2424 ext. 6315 to register.

Flamborough Connects’ Snow Angels Program is getting ready for the first snowfall. This is a fantastic volunteer gig for youth, families and adults who enjoy the fresh air and helping their neighbours. Our goal is to match clients and snow angels within the same neighbourhood.

Eligible Waterdown seniors and disabled residents and volunteers interested in helping can call the office for more information and to register.

The Flamborough Connects’ Wheel of Fitness program is ready to go live. Two locations in rural Flamborough, Troy and Freelton will be starting up in November.

If you are interested in this free gentle exercise class for older adults, please call the office to register. All instructors are fully vaccinated, and participants must show proof of vaccination to register.

We will continue running the Monday morning virtual class. For times and details to register for any of these classes, please call the office.

Need a ride to your activity? The Flamborough Drives volunteer driver program is accepting new clients and the first ride is always free.

For information or to register for any Flamborough Connects programs, call 905-689-7880 or visit our new website www.flamboroughconnects.ca.
