Flamborough Connects Launches Youth Empowerment Program

Programs will build relationships, networks, says Szwalek.

It may still be summer, but Flamborough Connects is busy planning fall and winter programs, and we have some exciting announcements to share!

Flamborough Connects will be hosting a virtual Volunteer Fair on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fair will bring together volunteer organizations and interested youth from the Flamborough area. The event is a great opportunity for local youth to learn about volunteer organizations in their community and get a jump start on their volunteer hours for graduation.

Some of the confirmed organizations include Eagle’s Nest Association of Waterdown and Animal Adoptions of Flamborough. If you would like to register for this event, please email admin@flamboroughconnects.ca or call 905-689-7880.

Flamborough Connects is also launching its Youth Empowerment Program this fall. The purpose of the program is to engage local youth and give them the structure and tools they need to connect with each other and build positive relationships and networks.

The Youth Empowerment Program will be designed by youth, for youth. We will be hosting a variety of programs like recreational programs, academic programs, arts programs, day trips and more. Please tell us on social media what kinds of programs you are interested in.

We are also looking to recruit local youth to be a part of the Youth Empowerment Team to help us plan and organize these community events. As an added bonus, members of the team will receive volunteer hours.

If you are interested in applying to be part of the Youth Empowerment Team, please email admin@flamboroughconnects.ca or call 905-689-7880.
