Semester 2 June Museum Experience

June 4 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The Waterdown community is coming together June 4–6, 2026, for two meaningful local events hosted at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 551 in Waterdown.
On Friday, June 5, from 4–7 p.m., the Waterdown Legion will host Red Friday (Remember Everyone Deployed), a free community event dedicated to showing support and appreciation for Veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, and First Responders. Community members are encouraged to wear red and join in an afternoon of food, activities, family-friendly programming, and community spirit as we honour those who serve and have served.
Coinciding with Red Friday is the Waterdown Museum of Hope’s June Museum Experience, taking place June 4–6 at the Legion. The exhibit features student-curated displays created by students from the Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity class at Waterdown District High School, exploring themes of hope, remembrance, historical awareness, conflict, human rights, and resilience. Exhibits include apartheid South Africa, post-communist Bulgaria and its military, Indigenous veterans, Women in war, Vimy Ridge, the Chinese-Canadian immigration experience in the early 1900s and several exhibits highlighting Second World War veterans and experiences.
On June 5, the museum will remain open until 8 p.m. as part of the evening’s special Red Friday programming
