Legal Aid

Legal Aid Certificate Program provides eligible Ontarians with publicly funded legal representation for criminal and family law issues. A certificate guarantees that a lawyer will be paid for representing a legal aid client for a certain number of hours. Clients can apply for certificates by calling LAO’s Client Service Centre 1-800-668-8258 and press 0

Law Society Referral Service – The Law Society of Ontario helps connect people looking for lawyers with a lawyer.  You will be matched with a lawyer or licensed paralegal and receive a free 30-minute consultation.  Request a lawyer online or call 1-800-668-7380

Advocacy Centre for the Elderly – legal services for low-income seniors and education on elder abuse, dealings with healthcare facilities, care homes, pensions, theft and other issues relative to seniors.  Call 1-855-598-2656

Jared’s Place Legal Resource Centre – for women who have experienced domestic abuse and are going through the legal system.  A Legal Advocate can provide support, information, advocacy and referral at no charge related to Family law, Criminal law and other issues such as Disability, Housing, Immigration and Safety Planning.  Call 905-522-0127 Ext. 207
