The following are organizations that have an immediate need for volunteers:
Millgrove Cemetery Board is looking for 2-3 volunteers that are interested in helping clean old headstone and straightening ones that are leaning. (Millgrove SideRd and Concession 5 West)
The Flamborough Women’s Resource Centre (FWRC) is holding their annual Chili Fest fundraiser this year on Tuesday September 24th, from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at the Waterdown Legion.
The volunteer shifts are as follows:
10am – 1pm – event set up (bringing all necessary things to the Legion and up into the event space and moving tables and chairs into place)
1pm – 3pm – event set up (setting up raffle table, organizing restaurant items, putting up signage, etc)
3pm – 6pm – final event set up and event coordination (will be assigned a specific responsibility during the event)
6pm – 9pm – event coordination and take down (specific responsibility during event and then take down which consists of packing up all items, moving tables and chairs back into storage position and loading cars to transport goods back to FWRC)
7:30pm – 9pm – event take down (packing up all items, moving tables and chairs back into storage position and loading cars to transport goods back to FWRC)
The Hamilton Literacy Council:
The Hamilton Literacy Council is looking for volunteer tutors to teach English speaking adults basic reading, writing and math.
Our two day certified training workshop is:
Saturday, September 28th, 2019
Saturday, October 5th, 2019
9:00 to 4:00 p.m. (must attend both days)
