Board Member, Board of Directors
Flamborough Connects has an opening on its volunteer Board of Directors. Please contact us if you are interested in providing leadership and sharing your expertise toward the goals of our charitable organization that has been facilitating community service programming for more than 45 years.
Flamborough Connects offers information, referral, and community programs and links individuals with community agencies suited to their needs. Our organization actively shares knowledge, experience and expertise across every sector of the non-profit community.
The Board of Directors meets the second Wednesday evening of the month. Board members are expected to attend a minimum of 7 meetings annually and participate in Flamborough Connects events and on committees as needed. Board directors are required to commit to a minimum 2-year term that is renewable.
Board directors are supported by the Executive Director and Chair. Overall monthly commitment, including board meetings is approximately 5-7 hours per month.
Board director skills and role requirements:
· Interested in the needs of Flamborough residents and motivated to continue development of Flamborough Connects as the organization to meet those needs
· Specific skills, knowledge, education and/or professional credentials in areas that benefit Flamborough Connects’ goals (e.g. legal, financial, social/community service, senior support, youth)
· Communication and interpersonal skills and an inclusive mindset
· Understanding of how volunteerism shapes and strengthens community
· Commitment to attend Flamborough Connects events and participate in activities
· Computer skills to engage in communication and Knowledge of Flamborough communities
Examples of board roles:
· Executive roles: Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary
· Strategic planning and governance
· Fundraising and donor relations
· Community outreach and publicity
· IT and website development
Current recruitment focus is for directors who can bring perspectives from any of: West Flamborough representation, general legal background, and/or virtual engagement (website, social media, etc.)
